Winter Mid-Week Street-O Event 2

Organiser/Planner - David Lumby david.lumby@thomasmiller.com

Congratulations to the 14 hardy souls who came out on a frosty evening and set forth from The Leather Bottle in search of hydrant numbers. No miss-punches were detected which may be a first for a winter series event. Grumbles were confined to a couple of controls where the planner could have been more accurate with his control circle.

From comparison of several Garmins we think the shortest running route on the long course was 4.7 miles. Chris took first place at a pace just a fraction over 7 minute miles - very impressive in the dark whilst navigating and writing down hydrant numbers. Cath was first from a small entry on the short course. Neil seemed to think second place on the long was not enough exercise for one night so stormed round the short in a quick but non-competitive second run.

Your organiser may have to retire from night-O planning after having a second consecutive event involve contact of a competitor's face with pavement. We wish Chris Childs a speedy recovery and hope Pat can get the blood out of his T shirt.

A debrief was held inside the pub but I don't think we have converted any locals from pool to winter night street-O.

Thank you all for coming and having a run and particularly to Chris Childs who yet again came good in converting my Purple Pen courses into a printable form.
