Winter Mid-Week Street-O Event 5
Great Notley & White Court, Braintree
Wednesday 22nd March 2017
Results - League Scores to follow shortly

Organiser - Eddie Banks banksy.eddie@gmail.com

We had 15 takers for this 5th event in the SOS winter series including 3 young children accompanied by adults. The darkness added a significant degree of difficulty to the already slightly confusing windy streets, paths and green spaces of Great Notley and White Court. The 6km long course had 15 controls which were numbered in a good sequence, but competitors were allowed complete the course in any order. This posed some strategic choices to the competitors, not least whether to even spend time thinking about it! The numbered route took the bolder participants through an unlit wooded area, which is easy enough in the daytime! Most chose to avoid this by changing the control sequence, as well as the choice of path linking the two estates.

The most significant challenge on the 2.5km short course was reported as spotting the hydrant signs even after the hydrant itself was located!

We had a very pleasant post-event hydration at the nearby William IV free house including real ale and cheese board.

Thank you to Chris Childs for his help in registration and calculating the results.

Most importantly, thank you to all the participants for making the event worthwhile.
