Organiser - Lyn West, lynwestghh@gmail.com

Not a lot to say really. The marquee accommodating all the assembly requirements made life easy and had us equipped for wet weather although on the day the weather surprised us all. My thanks to the staff of Danbury Outdoor Centre who were all exceptionally helpful and cheerful with it. And of course my thanks to the band of Stragglers who turned out to help and make the event so successful. It was great to see all the juniors in YBT having fun and enjoying representing their clubs. The close scoring made it an exciting finish and I went away to check results in quiet at home before issuing the final verdict. Special thanks to Rod Mansel for his assistance with setting up the scoring programme and for solving our on the day computer glitch.

Planner - Julie Laver

The run up for planning this event was fairly short due mostly to disorganisation on my part but once I got going I enjoyed the challenge of getting enough technical legs out of this less than complex area to satisfy the experienced runners amongst you while making interesting courses for the YBT competitors. I was concerned by the need to punch the same control twice on the yellow as I didn’t want to cause any mps but all the competitors seemed to have coped with this. The uncrossable fence through the middle of the map restricted where the competitors could be sent. The heavy downpour of the night before didn’t make the going too soggy although we did try to avoid a couple of potential marshes in the planning. I hope you enjoyed the day especially as the weather came good in the end. Thank you to Sarah for her efforts as controller – she happily fitted into the shortened timescale and we worked together to get everything done in good time. Thank you also to Lyn for making things run smoothly on the day. I’m just glad I didn’t have to sort out the results! Well done to SUFFOC Juniors for winning the YBT round and good luck to the team in the final.

Controller - Sarah Mansel

With only just over a month to plan and organise the event, I think both Julie and Lyn did a fantastic job, and all went well on the day. Danbury Park is not the easiest of areas to plan on so I applaud Julie for managing to create interesting courses. Whilst there are several paths, some are indistinct and that makes the White and Yellow courses tricky to plan. The uncrossable fence in the middle of the area is also a nuisance. The numerous paths also mean it is difficult to plan technical courses, but hopefully there was some route choice and everyone enjoyed their run on such a lovely sunny day.

It was great to see such close competition between the juniors in the YBT competition. With the results so close, thanks to Lyn for checking the final results. Congratulations to SUFFOC for winning by one point over HH and thanks to everyone for participating.
