Summer Series Event No. 1
Hilly Fields, Colchester
Wednesday 23rd May 2018
Details


 
Courses and Terrain Long course approximately 4.6km, 20 controls.
Short course approximately 2.7km, 11 controls.
Controls will have pin punches.
Open parkland with areas of woodland and good paths. Some quiet residential streets on the Long course.
 
Location Sheepen Road, Colchester next to the Colchester Institute. Post Code CO3 3LL, O.S. ref. TL987258, Google Maps. Free street parking after 6.00pm.
 
Map 1:5000.
 
Times Registration and starts between 6.15pm and 7.15pm.
Starts between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
Competitors must report to the finish by 8.30pm.
 
Fees £3 seniors and groups, £1.50 juniors (under 21) and students.
Second run free for those fit enough.
 
SOS Summer League The event will form part of SOS Summer Mid-Week League - event 1 of 5.
Points will be awarded based on finishing time adjusted using a handicap system.
Each missed/incorrect control will have 5 minute penalty.
Best 4 results from the series will count.
Full details and results will be published on the SOS website.
 
Facilities All welcome. Guidance for beginners available. No toilets available. Post-event rehydration will be at the Bricklayers Arms, Mile End Road, CO4 5AA.
 
Safety Sunset is at 8:54pm.
High visibility clothing is recommended.
The Long course requires participants to cross minor roads and you are asked to take due care. Balkerne Hill is marked out of bounds.
Paths are generally good but beware of occasional odd trip hazards.
Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult on the Long course.
Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions.
There may be walkers, cyclists and dogs, so be aware.
Competitors compete at their own risk.
If you have a medical condition of which the Organiser needs to be aware please complete the available Medical Form.
Dogs on a lead are permitted.
 
Data Protection You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times and age group.
