Winter Mid-Week Street O. Event No. 6
Tiptree

Location Registration at the Bonnie Blue Oak PH, Oak Road, Tiptree CO5 0NF (indoors) OS map ref. TL894173, Google Maps.
 
Parking Free parking in Pub car park or on local residential street, please park with consideration for residents.
 
Time Starts between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. Note later start time.
Competitors must report to the finish by 9.30pm.
 
Map and terrain 1:7,500. Street network, footpaths, cycle ways and mostly lit linking paths; however, some areas may be unlit!
 
Courses Long course approximately 6km.
Short course approximately 3km.
Actual routes will be slightly longer.
Both courses will cross some roads with regular, suburban traffic flow; care required crossing all roads.
 
Controls The controls will be fire hydrant signs (Yellow with a large ‘H’). You will be asked to record the lower number. Please bring a pen or pencil. Maps will not be printed on waterproof paper - so you might like to bring a bag for the map if wet.
 
Fees £3 seniors and groups, £1.50 juniors (under 21) and students.
Second run free for those fit enough.
 
Safety A torch is essential for both courses and a head torch is strongly recommended.
Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions.
As with any street orienteering this requires participants to cross roads and you are asked to take due care and attention at all times.
High visibility clothing is strongly recommended.
There may be dog walkers, cyclists or residents using the pavements and footpaths – be aware.
 
Facilities All welcome. Guidance for beginners available.
Toilets in the Oak PH.
Refreshments in the Oak PH.

SOS Winter League The event will form part of SOS Winter Mid-Week Street O. League.
Points will be awarded based on finishing time adjusted using a handicap system.
Each missed/incorrect control will have 5 minute penalty.
Best 4 results from the series will count.
