Summer Series, event No. 1
Wednesday 29 May 2019
Sorry about the rain! I hope you enjoyed the Hedinghams in spite of the weather.
For those who were asking, there were several 50:50 legs where it made little or no difference to distance which route you chose such as legs 1-2 and 9-10 on the Long. The Long course route along the green lane 7-8 was very slightly further than using the road (20m) but as you may have seen there was another fire hydrant along the road route which may have caused you to pause thus negating the very small distance gain. In some cases there was an optimum route such as 2-3 and from 16-17 where the riverside walk path saved 100 metres or more compared to going along any of the road/pavement routes.
Some of you suggested that the order of 12-15 could have been run in a different order to save time. Indeed one of you actually told me that you did that. Having measured both routes, going in the wrong order would have saved just 25 metres!
There was just one route 17-18.
Next event: June 12th Hospital Arms, Colchester
