2020 Summer-Autumn Mid-Week-O Event No.4 (of 6)
Event 4 - Stanway, Colchester
Tuesday 22nd September 2020 - Evening

Organiser/Planner: John Allen, jaysuk@btinternet.com

Planners’s Report

It's always fun to plan an event in your local area and sometimes surprising to find some things have changed specially in Stanway where new developments progress at pace and provide new control possibilities.
Many thanks to all those who came; 34 on the long and 8 on the short enjoying a mild rain free evening which did close in for later runners who thankfully were able to utilise their head torches. The start/finish location was rather quirky but I think worked well especially with the benefit of the floodlights.
Several participants arrived early and ably assisted by Chris Childs, I was able to set-up and start them off ahead of their time slot.
There were some impressive times; I had thought 42 min for the long was optimal but several managed to better this so hats off to them. Well done to Chris Prince on winning the long, just pipping Guy Lidbury by 35sec and to the Goodings on winning the short.
A couple of controls caused some consternation as there were two hydrant signs for each; No.11 whereby I had added footpaths to differentiate the two and No.16 whereby I decided to allow both. The area around the lake was described by one as a designed maze and those three controls needed careful identification.

Well done to everyone.

Thanks
John
