Organiser’s Report

Many thanks to everyone for turning out on such a wet evening to run fully in the dark for the first
time in this series. It was a definite reminder that winter approaches but good that your enthusiasm
for this series so well managed by Chris remains undampened (pun intended!).
Comments at the end suggest that you appreciated the complexities of the area particularly at the
east end of the map visited by the long course. A number of people remarked on the smaller
number of controls than usual which was deliberate to give plenty of route choice rather than guide
you through the area. You met the challenge.
Apologies for the final control on the long course. This was selected as a scenic spot in the old
marketplace with the fountain behind. Following comments at the finish, Colin and I did revisit the
site. The centre of the circle was about 15m out but this shouldn't have been an issue as the
direction of approach was likely to mean you met the control before you reached the marked site.
However, someone moved the roadworks! When Colin and I ran the course last week, the area
was clear with no fencing or orange barriers surrounding the control site which made it all very
confusing. The roadworks were in an area to the west and we avoided taking you through there.
The best laid plans…
All finishers on the short course had the correct controls so well done to you all.
Hope to see you in Halstead in 2 weeks
