2021 HAVOC/SOS Mid-Week-Orienteering Event No.1 (of 8)
SOS Event 1 - Beaulieu, Chelmsford
Wednesday 7th April 2021 - Evening
Beaulieu Park Sports Area, Burnell Gate, Chelmsford, CM1 6ED.
The start/finish area will be on the playing field, adjacent to the Beaulieu Park car park
– NOTE that this car park SHUTS at 7.30pm, so please do not park here.
The Street parking is very restricted – so it is recommended that you park in Sainsbury’s.
Sainsbury’s Springfield Supermarket car park in White Hart Lane, Chelmsford CM2 5PA.
Exit the car park by foot onto White Hart Lane (A130, opposite the Mercedes garage), via a pathway.
Turn right. Entrance to the park (on right) is approximately 500m along the road (about 5 mins).

- Club and BOF no. if applicable (state if running with others)
- Preferred time slot 6:15 - 6:30, 6:30 - 6:45, 6:45 - 7:00, 7:00 - 7:15 (not guaranteed)
- Amount paid or Confirm prepaid £10 for all SOS events - £3 Seniors, £1.50 under 21 + students
- Contact no. – solely for the purpose of the Government’s Track and Trace system

The event will be run strictly in accordance with the published BOF and Government guidance.
It is a condition of entry that all participants agree to adhere to the BOF COVID19 Participant Code of Conduct.
Starts at pre-defined times between 6:15pm and 7:15pm as confirmed by the Event Coordinator.
Please arrive ready for your pre-agreed start time.
Competitors must report to the finish by 8:30pm.
Long course 5.3km (Distances between controls)
Short course 3.6km - (Distances between controls)
The controls are fire hydrant signs. You will be asked to record the lower number on the hydrant sign.
Some of the signs are ‘homemade’ – but still look like Hydrants!
Please bring a pen or pencil to mark the control card and map bag if it is wet.
The course is on roads, pavements & trails.
The Long course crosses the main road (A130) and there are two mandated crossing points at pelican
crossings. There is a small park along the way which closes at 8pm, most competitors will have
passed the park by this time (you can run round the outside if it is shut).
Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions. Water will not be provided. Please bring your own to rehydrate.
High visibility clothing is strongly recommended.
As with any street orienteering this requires participants to cross roads and you are asked to take due care and attention at all times.
There may be dog walkers, cyclists and residents using the pavements and footpaths – be aware and give them priority.
Note: It will be getting towards dusk – so a head and/or hand-held torch is recommended (sunset is at 19:42).
Participants take part at their own risk.
There are toilets available in Sainsburys Supermarket. Don't forget your mask.
Unfortunately, at present we cannot nominate a venue for post event deliberations due to Covid19.

SOS Mid-Week Summer-Autumn League
The event will form part of HAVOC/SOS Mid-Week O’ League. Points will be awarded based on finishing times adjusted
using an age/gender handicap system. Each missed or incorrect control will incur a 5 minutes penalty.
Best 6 results from the series will count.
50 bonus points added for undertaking any one of the SOS/HAVOC MapRuns during the course of the series - just confirm run to the Coordinator.
Full results will be emailed and published on the SOS and HAVOC websites.
