Several SOS members won trophies at the recent East Anglian Championships

The 2023 East Anglian Championships were held at Tangham Forest on Sunday February 5th. Tangham is part of Rendlesham Forest situated on either side of the Tang valley. There was open runnable woodland that was a joy to orienteer in. Glorious sunshine, excellent courses from Martin Hore and good organisation from the SUFFOC team made this close to the perfect event. There was a good turnout from SOS members but sadly only a few came back as winners. Geraldine (W75) and John (M80) Russell both retained their titles. Lulu Gooding triumphed in W12. Special mention must be made of SOS runners on the Brown Open Course. Defending M35 champion Chris Sellens was beaten into 2nd place by 46 seconds and 17 year old Oliver Prince was less than 2 minutes behind him . All were more than 10 minutes clear of the leading M21. Oliver's run earned him the Joan George Trophy for the best performance by a junior at the East Anglian Championships. A well deserved acolade. A future star in the making?
