SOS Junior Captain Makes GB Team
Congratulations to Oliver Prince - Junior Captain (SOS) who has been selected to represent Great Britain (GB) at the European Youth Orienteering Champs (EYOC) in Velingrad, Bulgaria this Summer!
Stragglers in the medals
At the recent British Orienteering Championships at Cold Ash in Berkshire, John Russell (M80)and Chris Sellens (M35) came home with bronze medals. Congratulation to them and also to Oliver Prince with a very creditable 7th place in M18Elite.

Junior Awards
We were delighted to award a number of trophies to our juniors at Danbury Common.
Yvette Baker Trophy & ShieldSOS Juniors through to national final
Congratulations to SOS Juniors on winning the East Anglia qualifying heat of the Yvette Baker Shield competition. As a small club our juniors compete for the shield. This time they were only up against Suffolk with Norfolk and WAOC competing in the Trophy. The whole team performed brilliantly. The scorers were Oliver, Joshua, Amelie, Lulu and Abigail. Scoring 499 points out of a possible 500.
We wish them well in the national final in Sheffield on 9th July.
Jack Petchey Awards
Essex Stragglers spent a lovely evening at Charter Hall for the Jack Petchey Foundation Awards, celebrating the amazing achievements of local young people including two of our juniors. Well done to the two Bens. We are very proud of you both.

2023 East Anglian Champions
Several SOS members won trophies at the recent East Anglian Championships
Junior Club Champion
The 2022 SOS Club Championships was held at Wordwell on Sunday November 20th.
Joshua Owen was crowned Junior Club Champion for 2022 and presented with his trophy by Junior Captain Oliver Prince at the New Year Novelty.

SOS-HAVOC Midweek Event 5 Braintree/BockingEVENT POSTPONED
This afternoon, Colin and I walked part of the courses for tomorrow evening. The roads and paths were extremely slushy. Given the predicted overnight temperatures, we envisage that the slush will freeze. While there may be some thawing during the day tomorrow, temperatures are again predicted to be below freezing tomorrow evening. We feel that we have no option but to cancel tomorrow evening's event on safety grounds.
The current plan is to reschedule the event to January. Watch this space!
