We were delighted to award a number of trophies to our juniors at Danbury Common.
Congratulations to SOS Juniors on winning the East Anglia qualifying heat of the Yvette Baker Shield competition. As a small club our juniors compete for the shield. This time they were only up against Suffolk with Norfolk and WAOC competing in the Trophy. The whole team performed brilliantly. The scorers were Oliver, Joshua, Amelie, Lulu and Abigail. Scoring 499 points out of a possible 500.
We wish them well in the national final in Sheffield on 9th July.
Essex Stragglers spent a lovely evening at Charter Hall for the Jack Petchey Foundation Awards, celebrating the amazing achievements of local young people including two of our juniors. Well done to the two Bens. We are very proud of you both.

Several SOS members won trophies at the recent East Anglian Championships
The 2022 SOS Club Championships was held at Wordwell on Sunday November 20th.
Joshua Owen was crowned Junior Club Champion for 2022 and presented with his trophy by Junior Captain Oliver Prince at the New Year Novelty.
This afternoon, Colin and I walked part of the courses for tomorrow evening. The roads and paths were extremely slushy. Given the predicted overnight temperatures, we envisage that the slush will freeze. While there may be some thawing during the day tomorrow, temperatures are again predicted to be below freezing tomorrow evening. We feel that we have no option but to cancel tomorrow evening's event on safety grounds.
The current plan is to reschedule the event to January. Watch this space!
The East Anglian Orienteering Championships were held at Bromehill near Brandon on November 27th. The Stragglers contingent produced six champions across the age range from Abigail Prince in W14 to John Russell in M80+
Congratulations to Geraldine Russell who retained her title of Club Champion and to Joshua Owen who is the Junior Club Champion for 2022.
A small group of SOS juniors took a trip to Derbyshire in October. Our Jack Petchey Foundation Award winners chose a great weekend of activities.
