The Tiptree Heath Permanent Course has been well and truly launched by a gathering of at least fifty people, including various parents who are not listed in the results and taking account of several enthusiastic children who so enjoyed their run around the White course that they then went on to successfully complete the Yellow course!
I welcome the fact that the occasion was also supported by a number of experienced orienteers who took the opportunity to test themselves on the Map Memory and Norwegian courses, provided just for today.
From today Tiptree Heath Permanent Course Packs, containing maps of the White and Yellow courses and various additional information can be purchased for £1 from Tiptree Sports Centre, Maypole Road, Tiptree.
My thanks go to Colchester Borough Council's Rec-Create project which has financed the mapping of the Heath and the provision of the permanent course marker posts and to Martin Beaver of CBC and Joan Pinch, the Community Liaison Officer for Tiptree Heath for their constructive help and support.
The full results appear hereunder. My only regret is that so many young competitors were not instructed or assisted to enter their details clearly and in full on their control cards. As a consequence you may recognise yourself in the list, but nobody else will! I will be happy to consider corrections to the Preliminary Results if advised by phone on 01621 815501 or email IsbesterJ@aol.com. We look forward to seeing you all again at future events.
