Thank you to everyone that came along on New Year's Day. We had a very good turnout considering the damp conditions, although the weather gods turned out to be relatively kind to the runners. 58 hardy souls in varying states of consciousness took part. It was good to see several new faces including someone who last orienteered in 1965. I hope you don't leave it 50 years before having another go!
There was a bit more involved with organising this event for Daisy than the Summer series events I have done previously. She made sure I was kept busy with arts and crafts and putting out signs. I would like to thank the Woodland Trust for permission to use the area and David & Tom for the use of their farm for car parking. Thanks also to those that leant a hand before and after the event.
There was one missing Bing-O card (the others that had been dropped were picked up from around the course). We have been unable to award the bonus points for Alan & Eleanor Alford so please let us know if you do have the card still.
Two of you managed to get maximum points by collecting all 31 controls. Congrats to Mark Ford who narrowly pipped Darren Cook for the win with a slightly quicker time. The highest placed group were the Morums and the winner of the Junior course was Barney Steventon-Barnes. Clever collection of your Bing-O card controls made a big difference to the overall scores as you will see in the results.
I do hope that you all enjoyed yourselves and thanks for your support.
Very successful day I hope for everyone. I enjoyed every moment. I know some people didn't really understand the concept but I hope everyone found it interesting. As you know, the profits on New Years Day will go towards my participation in Italy and I really appreciate everyone coming along and for all of the donations.
Team Alford, I can't find your Bing-O card so if you have it could you please contact me with the number or letter on the back so that I can work out your scores.
