Officials' Comments

We had a first class venue giving access to a first class piece of wood with premier class courses and the weather basically held off for the event (though not the clearing up). Thank you to all who came and enjoyed themselves. The bigger thanks, of course, goes to the band of willing helpers who turned up with a smile and went beyond their basic job descriptions to ensure that everyone could have a good time.

The school have found one dibber which is being sent to me. Please let me know where it should be sent.

I am delighted that SOS succeeded in providing this event for the first time with all courses in the eastern part of Danbury Ridge. The quality of the area and the invaluable assistance and contribution from controller Paul Beckett resulted in courses which produced many positive comments. Although several competitors found the courses hard, they appreciated the relevance of difficulty to the area. It was a privilege to be the planner for this event and a pleasure to work with our controller. As ever, a special thank you for the efforts of Kevin Machin with updating the map and printing the courses.

Controller - Paul Beckett (HAVOC)

SOS did well to find a school offering a new assembly and parking area near the best part of the Baddow Ridge complex. Clive Tant planned technically and physically challenging courses within the mature woods. I was pleased that no juniors mis-punched as their courses were quite adventurous. I hope that those who did the longer courses liked the many opportunities to save time by going straight if you could keep in touch with the map. Although many times were longer than usual I hope you were happy to spend so long orienteering on an excellent area.
