Explanation of Event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Overview

Come and Try Orienteering - Heritage Trail Street-O, Park-O & Maze

This free taster session will offer a maze and a park orienteering course suitable for all ages including small children and families. A street orienteering course (Street-O) which utilises the Heritage Trail starting from the park will also be available. Under 16s must be accompanied by and adult on the Street-O. All the activities are free of charge. Just turn up and register at the green SOS banner where our club volunteers will get you started.

Directions / Parking

Street parking is possible in the area but spaces are limited. Nearest car park Milton Rd, CO12 3LA. Charges £1 / hour

Map / Terrain

Cliff Park covers an area of approximately 4.5 hectares and consists of formal gardens, seafront, a bandstand, and large open areas of grass and mature trees.

Toilet facilities and cafe in the park and a variety of local shops and places to eat around the local area.

Dog restrictions

Well-behaved dogs on a lead. Dogs are not permitted in the fenced play area within the park.
