Comments – New Year’s Day Novelty – 1 January 2024

We hope you all enjoyed the event and didn’t find the format too confusing. Well done to the competitors who managed all the controls, plus the bonus controls within the time limit. It was great to see a few people who were new to orienteering, we hope to see you again.

We should mention that the addition of the Santa and Christmas Tree were inspired by WIM’s Boxing Day Canter event. Hopefully it added a bit of fun, and a chance for slower runners to bag some extra points.

As always, there were many people who helped to stage the event, and without their support it would not have been possible. In particular, Colin and Lyn for their help with entries and on the day (and the delicious mince pies!), Eddie for arranging access to the area, Kevin for printing the maps and Chris for updating the map.
