There are two events, Long & Short, they use Open Orienteering Map, 1:10,000. Controls are generally fire hydrant ‘H’ signs (lower number) although in some cases alternative street furniture & trees have been used.

Directions / Parking

The event start and finish is just to the West of the Lexden Crown pub, 235 Lexden Road, Colchester CO3 4DA. We suggest either parking in London
Road Car Park CO3 4DF just West of the pub (what three words: paths.sparks.baking) which is free from 6:00pm but you still need a ticket. Also, there's parking in Lexden Road down from the pub (towards Colchester), beyond the bus stop on the left.

Safety Notes

Participation is at your own risk. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions. As with any urban orienteering which requires participants to cross the road, you are asked to take due care and pay attention at all times. N.B. there are several busy road crossings esp. near the pub and crossings over/under the A12 so please take care . High visibility clothing is strongly recommended. There may be dog walkers, cyclists, scooters or residents on pavements and footpaths – be aware and give them priority.
