Overview
This is a Score event - there is a Long Course & a Short Course, the goal is to visit as many controls in the time available, and not be late back! The goal is also to have the highest score – so you need to consider the scoring value of the controls you visit.
The parking is at the Asda, 1-10 Queen Elizabeth Square, South Woodham Ferrers, CM3 5TB (what three words are ///mailboxes.quote.begins). You can park for 4 hours.
The start & finish is in the town square, next to the bandstand (what three words are ///asked.believer.rested).
For the Long Course you will have 60 minutes to visit as many controls as possible (maximum of 24, eight will be worth 10 points (controls 1-9), eight will be worth 20 points (controls 11-18) and eight will be worth 30 points (controls 21-28 for a maximum score of 480), and for the Short Course you will have 45 minutes to visit as many controls as possible (maximum of 16), eight will be worth 10 points (controls 1-8) and eight will be worth 20 points (controls 11-18) for a maximum score of 240.Be very careful not to pass the Finish until you are ready to finish – as otherwise MapRun will assume you want to finish. Controls are all fire hydrant signs, except for control 3, 23 & 24 which are away from the urban area.
There will be a penalty of 10 points for every one minute you are late back to the finish. (If you are running this as part of the winter series, the penalty is 10 points for 2 minutes)

Participation is at your own risk. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions.
As with any street orienteering this requires participants to cross roads and you are asked to take due care and attention at all times. High visibility clothing is strongly recommended. There may be dog walkers, cyclists or residents on pavements and footpaths – be aware and give them priority.
