SOS Junior awarded the Joan George Trophy
The Joan George Memorial Trophy was presented to Joshua Owen by Clive Wilkinson, the East Anglian Junior Squad's coach.
The Joan George Memorial Trophy was first awarded in 1998. It was established in memory of Joan George, a stalwart of NOR to commemorate her huge contribution to orienteering and particularly for Juniors in the region. It is presented for the best performance by a Junior at the East Anglian Championships. Joshua is the 11th SOS junior to be awarded the trophy.
Joshua started orienteering aged 13 for his Bronze DofE award and has been a committed member of SOS ever since. In the last 12 months, he ran for Wales at the Junior Home Internationals and for East Anglia at the Junior Inter-Regional Championships. He won the M18 trophies at the Welsh and EA Championships, also achieving 'Black Standard'.
Well done Joshua!
